I am a self-"learning" artist. I've always adored folk art; I think because it's so simple to understand. You don't need any savvy to 'get' it. My inspiration comes from family - not only the people around me now but especially from my ancestors, my history. Old black and white photos really spark my imagination. They make me feel so connected to those quaint people, what they believed, how they lived their lives. So I use my paintbrush to express the fondness and gratitude I feel for them, the folks who were the very building blocks of my existence. They influence everything I am and will ever be.
